Chiropractic Physician / Chiropractor

Symptoms.  Whatever you are feeling, you know that the pain or discomfort in your back, neck, shoulders…it’s impairing your quality of life.  Some people consult with medical doctors, but others prefer the expertise of Chiropractic Physicians because of their overall approach to health. A chiropractor evaluates and treats a patient’s muscular, nervous, and skeletal systems. They also explore how diet, exercise, environment, and heredity contribute to a patient's pain and injuries.  It's a medical fact that your brain, spinal cord, and the rest of your nerves control every aspect of your body.  By pinpointing the cause of your discomfort or pain, a chiropractor can develop a plan to restore your health and manage it in a way that will support a life-long commitment to wellness.

Preventative Chiropractic Care

An important shift from a "crisis" mindset to a "preventative" mindset is essential.  Many people wait until the pain they’re experiencing is unbearable before seeking help.  We must begin to realize that prevention is the key to saving time, money, and most importantly, your health.  Take the time to listen to your body and do not ignore what it's trying to tell you.  Time is of the essence and only you can take the first step and make the decision to feel good again.  Tranquility Wellness is dedicated to serving and supporting you, every step of the way.

Dr. Emily Loveland, who has an extensive and diverse medical and wellness background, specializes in chiropractic/manipulative therapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, Graston technique, Kinesiotaping and various other rehabilitation and nutritional therapies. She understands her patients’ needs and assists them in carefully examining the cause of their pain, effectively administers treatment plans, while encouraging healthy eating, exercise, and stress-management practices.  Dr. Loveland’s one-on-one approach gives you the individualized attention you deserve.  Her careful consideration and interest in each and every patient is what sets her apart from other Chiropractic Clinics.

So take a moment to think about your symptoms.  Symptoms are indicators or warning signs that something is not as it should be.  It will get better.  It will take some time.  But, congratulations in taking that first step to a better YOU...it is the best gift you can give in your lifetime.

Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy
Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy/Spinal Manipulation or "adjustment" refers to gentle pressure or a high-velocity low-amplitude thrust to help restore function and motion to a joint that has become restricted.  The manipulation also stimulates the nervous system to help reduce pain and relax local musculature. The noise that can sometimes be heard with an adjustment is that of release of nitrogen gas from a joint capsule.  It has been researched and documented that motion is restored following an adjustment, but no bones are moved for this to happen. There have been many studies that have proven its effectiveness, safety, and high levels of patient satisfaction.  As a result, in 1994 the U.S. Agency for Health Care Policy and Research published this technique as a gold standard for low back pain. Since then, more research has been done on neck pain, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, infantile colic and rehabilitation, all supporting the role of Chiropractic therapy and its manipulative procedures.

Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release is a gentle blend of stretching and soft tissue mobilization using traction and positioning of the body to coax muscles in spasm to relax and breakdown painful adhesions in the fascia. This technique can be used to ease pressure in the fibrous bands of connective tissue, or the fascia which encases muscles throughout the body. Sheaths of this dense and elastic connective tissue weave about blood vessels, bones, and nerves as well, forming an intricate, 3-D web that supports your organs and joints from head to toe and acts as the body's shock absorber.

Scarring or injury to this network of connective tissue is a major cause of pain and impeded motion. Myofascial Release aims to alleviate these problems by breaking up, or "releasing," constrictions or snags in the fascia.

Cupping
An ancient technique has found its place in the modern world of healing. Through suction and negative pressure, cupping releases rigid soft tissue; drain excess fluids and toxins; loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue; and bring blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles.

Graston Technique
This Technique is a patented instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables the clinician to break down scar tissue and soft tissue restrictions. This technique utilizes stainless steel instruments that are designed to specifically locate and effectively treat areas that exhibit soft tissue fibrosis and chronic inflammation.

Patients will witness a decreased amount of treatment time and experience faster rehabilitation and recovery of the complaint. Graston Technique also reduces the need for anti-inflammatory medications and resolves chronic conditions that in the past were thought to be permanent in nature. Given the ability to detect fascial adhesions and restrictions, Graston Technique has been clinically proven to achieve quicker and better outcomes in treating both acute and chronic conditions.  For more information visit www.grastontechnique.com.

Kinesio Taping
The Kinesio Taping Method involves taping over and around muscles in order to assist and give support while maintaining full range of motion, enabling the individual to participate in physical activity with functional assistance.   At Tranquility Wellness, Kinesio Tape in used in conjunction with other therapies, including rehabilitation exercises, chiropractic manipulation, massage therapy and other soft tissue therapies. The patented tape is Latex free, ultra hypoallergenic, water resistant, breathable, and worn for up to 5 days per treatment, providing continuous reinforcement of the neuromuscular re-education process.

Functional Rehabilitation
Our goal with examination is to identify both the anatomical sources of pain and the biomechanical deficits or impairments related to pain.

Palpation of soft tissue (skin, fascia, tendons and ligaments), muscle length, joint mobility, along with inspection of posture, gait, and movement patterns leads to the emergence of a picture of the patient’s major functional disturbance.  Our goal is to look for a connection between the dysfunctions and the condition.  Then depending on the history and examination, a connection can be made allowing the physician and staff to create an individualized rehab program.  Rehab may include but not limited to, traditional stretching, yoga stretching, strengthening, balance, postural re-education and core work.

Other therapies may include:
Massage Therapy
Thai Massage
Nutrition Counseling
Supplementation
Acupuncture/Acupressure
Gua Sha
Custom Orthotics
Psychotherapy
